Maid of Honor Speeches - Making a Nice and Memorable Speech

Maid of Honor speeches are very special, because the Maid of Honor is generally the only female who traditionally speaks at the wedding. The mother of the bride may also speak at some weddings, but most often it does not happen. At the same time, there are two men speeches at any wedding - Father of the Bride speeches and Best Man’s speeches.
Maid of Honor speeches, similarly to the Father of the Bride speeches, generally talk about the bride. Thus, it’s very important to go through the Father of the Bride speeches and to find out about the topics that he will be covering in his speech, so that these two don’t repeat each other.

What may the Maid of Honor speech comprise of? Since Maid of Honor is often the best friend, cousin or sister of the bride, she will know a lot about the bride, e.g.: funny tales about the bride’s childhood, stories about how the bride first met the groom, etc. The stories for the Maid of Honor speeches should be humorous but not humiliating in any way to anyone, whether it’s the groom or the bride.

Maid of Honor speeches are after the Father of the Bride speeches, and they may consist of the following: welcoming and thanking the guests for coming, telling several funny but not hurtful tales about the bride (or the couple), telling a couple of humorous stories about the bride’s parents, talking about marriage (good stories, quotes, etc.), and finishing with asking the guests to get up and to have a toast for the newlyweds.

Maid of Honor speeches are an integral part of any wedding. The better the Maid of Honor is prepared for her speech (rehearsals, not repeating the Father of the Bride speeches, and so on), the more wonderful and memorable this speech will be.
